Orthotics and Prosthetics Centre
The Orthotics and Prosthetics Workshop has attended to 5,191 patients and manufactured/ delivered 4,972 appliances including upper and lower limb prosthesis, splints, braces, orthopedic shoes etc. The silicon tems, hyperextension and lumbo-sacral corset have also shown
good response as these items are delivered to patients in the same visit Advanced prosthetics maximise rehabilitation potential for amputees and those with limb differences. An orthosis (plural: orthoses) is an orthopaedic brace, while a prosthesis (plural: prostheses) is an artificial limb. At PSRD, qualified experts assess each patient’s individual needs and custom-design orthoses and prostheses to meet their needs. A multidisciplinary team works together with the patient to formulate and implement the best treatment plan according to their goals, activity level, and lifestyle.
For the year 2021, this centre has helped 2,869 people and produced and distributed 3,630 orthopaedic devices, including upper and lower limb prostheses, splints, braces, orthopaedic shoes, and other relevant appliances. Patients received several hyperextensions and silicon lumbosacral corsets on the same day. Through the efforts of the ALTSO (A Leg to Stand On) project, 338 pieces of equipment have been provided to 212 patients.
Amazing monthly contributions from the Servis Foundation have provided the above project with a substantial boost. Similarly, PSRD needs your support in terms of donations for more innovative prosthetic technology in order to provide more effective care for the differently abled.
