The Occupational Therapy Department provides client-centered, evidence-based care for individuals with physical, cognitive, and sensory challenges.
The OT team including senior and junior therapists, deliver quality services, mentor students, and contribute to advocacy and collaboration.

Academic Achievements
It hosted workshops and CPDs on acute care, assistive technology, and mental health. This department assisted the BSc OT program students of the PSRD College of Rehabilitation Sciences.
SUCCESS STORY
G PSRD with co Hania, z-year-old, drooling, wrist drop, and poor motor control. After targeted therapy, she achieved independent sitting, improved hand use, and stopped drooling showcasing the remarkable power of early intervention.

Thermoplastic splinting services were introduced, providing custom hand and wrist splints for neuromuscular and orthopedic patients.

1st International & 2nd National OT Conference November 2024
PSRD, with POTA, hosted Pakistan’s first
international OT conference, “Building
Collaborative Partnerships,” featuring WFOT President Samantha Shann, Dr. Hassan Sarsak and MPA Uzma Kardar. The event enhanced PSRD’s
national and global OT profile.

During World Occupational Therapy Day & Awareness Week (Oct 2024), PSRD held therapy demonstrations, exhibitions, and interactive sessions. Distinguished guests Dr. Nazish Imran, Dr. Ehsan Ullah, Dr. Sikandar, Ms. Bushra Naheed, and Dr. Arshad Naz highlighted OT’s vital role in inclusive healthcare.
WFOT Registration & Institutional Audit (June 2025)
PSRD secured formal WFOT registration for its OT graduates after a successful audit by POTA, confirming compliance with international academic standards, a major milestone for global recognition.
Speech Therapy
Workshop at Punjab University
An interactive workshop on speech and language disorders was successfully conducted at Punjab University. Targeting students and faculty from health sciences, the session focused on practical strategies through case-based discussions to enhance understanding and clinical skills.
Free Speech Therapy Awareness Camp
The department organized a public awareness camp offering free speech and language screening and counseling services. This initiative aimed at promoting early detection of speech-language disorders and successfully reached over 150 individuals from the local community.
Departmental Trainings
Quarterly internal trainings on fluency disorders, AAC and voice therapy were led by senio therapists to enhance the team’s clinical skills.
National Speech Therapy Day
The department held awareness activities, distributed brochures, displayed posters, and honoured speech-language pathologists.

Participation in International Webinar
Departmental staff participated in an international webinar titled “How to Develop Listening and Spoken Language,” focusing on intervention strategies for children with hearing loss. The insights gained have been integrated into routine therapy to improve service quality.
